Wednesday 6th March - Great2BMe

Jackson led a lively and inspirational assembly for the whole school which had both pupils and staff singing together as one. Working on positive self-belief and developing a healthy attitude for adversities was a strong theme throughout the launch, with Jackson sharing his own stories and experiences of what it was like arriving from Nigeria aged 11 for a new school in London.

Jackson also ran an engaging work shop with Year 6 pupils, to help them mentally prepare for their SATs. Overcoming bullies and standing up to the limiting beliefs and criticisms of others was also a key focus.

Commenting on the project Jackson said, “I am so happy that South Norwood Primary is launching a powerful mission that engages the heart and the mind. The kids and staff definitely deserve to feel AMAZING!”

world book day(2)

On WORLD BOOK DAY on Thursday 7th March, your child can come to school dressed as a favourite character from any book. Please can your child bring in the book that has inspired their outfit on the day.

It would be good to discuss with your child different characters from their favourite books. The dressing up possibilities are endless: Postman Pat, Oliver Twist, Fantastic Mr Fox, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Danny- Champion of the World, Matilda, Goldilocks, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Twits, Cinderella, Gruffalo, Elmer the Elephant, Three little Pigs, Harry Potter etc…

Reading different books every evening, in preparation would be great!

So get thinking and reading! We look forward to seeing your child dressed up for the special day on Thursday 7th March.

November 5th - Remembrance Day

South Norwood Primary School Head Boy and Head Girl were joined by all the Head Boys and Head Girls from the TPA schools on Monday to remember the old boys and masters of the South Norwood school and all of those who fell in the great war 1914-1918. The children all read poignant words and laid wreaths at the memorial stone  on our playground. It was a great morning where all the children showed phenomenal maturity and respect for those who sacrificed so much for all of us.

in Autumn 1 our safety focus has been on line safety. Everyone has signed an internet agreement and completed a lesson on being safe on line. Then Google came to visit KS2... we had an amazing time!  The children learnt all about internet and social media safety and found many ways to ensure that we stay safe online.  Please ask us what we learnt becasue we are now 'Internet Legends'!
