Visit from Shaun Wane Friday 17th January 2020

Shaun Wane, a former rugby international player and former Head Coach of Wigan Rugby Club visited South Norwood Primary School on Friday 17th January to meet Leaders of The Pioneer Academy. He delivered inspirational training about Leadership using his own personal experiences in change management and building a culture in a team.

Shaun Wane met the children of South Norwood in assembly. He told the children that he was successful because he worked harder than anyone else and listened to his coaches.

He toured the school with Mrs Berthoud and the Head Boy and Girl, Clive and Lucy.  He said that “I am overwhelmed with a nice positive feeling from being here.  I wasn’t expecting this from a school that was vulnerable 18 months ago; the children are very well mannered and hardworking, everyone has been so positive and lovely and the children asked thought provoking questions.”

Clive and Lucy said “We enjoyed meeting Shaun, he is very humble and inspiring. He signed a rugby ball for us with the message - work harder than anyone else”.

11 Reasons to visit South Norwood Primary School

Wednesday 6th March - Great2BMe

Jackson led a lively and inspirational assembly for the whole school which had both pupils and staff singing together as one. Working on positive self-belief and developing a healthy attitude for adversities was a strong theme throughout the launch, with Jackson sharing his own stories and experiences of what it was like arriving from Nigeria aged 11 for a new school in London.

Jackson also ran an engaging work shop with Year 6 pupils, to help them mentally prepare for their SATs. Overcoming bullies and standing up to the limiting beliefs and criticisms of others was also a key focus.

Commenting on the project Jackson said, “I am so happy that South Norwood Primary is launching a powerful mission that engages the heart and the mind. The kids and staff definitely deserve to feel AMAZING!”

November 5th - Remembrance Day

South Norwood Primary School Head Boy and Head Girl were joined by all the Head Boys and Head Girls from the TPA schools on Monday to remember the old boys and masters of the South Norwood school and all of those who fell in the great war 1914-1918. The children all read poignant words and laid wreaths at the memorial stone  on our playground. It was a great morning where all the children showed phenomenal maturity and respect for those who sacrificed so much for all of us.
